The Dividing Lines website was designed to bring forward a powerful, immersive experience that delves into the history of residential segregation and its enduring impacts. This site was developed in close collaboration with Johnson County Library, alongside key contributors Nathanial Bozarth and Christopher Cook, to convey the narrative and engage viewers accurately. A custom wireframe was created to structure the site, integrating the distinct brand colors and developing a cohesive brand language and iconography that aligns with the project’s themes. Dividing Lines, initially envisioned by Erik Stafford and Paul Richardson for the Race Project KC program, is an educational tour exploring segregation’s legacy in Kansas City and its parallels in cities like St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Birmingham. Dividing Lines illuminates a hidden history, inviting visitors to reflect on the impact of these policies across generations.
The Dividing Lines website was developed in Webflow, providing a flexible and visually engaging design foundation. Web developers at Johnson County Library then integrated the Webflow-generated code into their Drupal CMS, ensuring seamless functionality within the library’s existing content management framework.
