Illinois State University Forensics Union is one of the top collegiate speech teams in the nation. Since 1857, the Union has won multiple team and individual championships. The Forensics Union has an excellent alum history, including President Lincoln and Nelsan Ellis (True Blood star). The team wanted to revitalize its look as the Union continued its excellence. When creating a new logo for the Forensics Union, I wanted an instantly recognizable symbol. Incorporating the speech bubble was a unique way to present the team without making it seem too simplified. I also injected the Illinois State Redbird ‘swag’ throughout the brand.
